Even before the latest price cut, the Xiaomi Mi A2 was very well one of the best phones to buy under Rs 20,000. Now after the price cut, the second Android One phone from Xiaomi is no doubt the best phone available under Rs 15,000. Why? Because it offers stock Android experience, now runs on Android 9 Pie, shoots almost flawless pictures from both main and selfie camera, and is one hell of a phone. And now it is one hell of a phone under Rs 13,999.Last week Xiaomi India announced that the company has five surprises to reveal this week and the first one turned out to be a price cut of up to Rs 3,000 for the Mi A2. The India price of Xiaomi Mi A2 now starts at Rs 13,999. This is for the base model of the phone which comes packed with 4GB RAM plus 64GB storage. The top end model of the Mi A2 with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage now retails at Rs 15,999.This price segment is crowded with some very good phones from Nokia, Asus, Realme and Honor. Soon you may also get Samsung M10 and Samsung M20 here. But I believe that right now if you are looking for a phone under Rs 15,000, get the Mi A2 at Rs 13,999 as it makes more sense than ever before. To begin with, the Xiaomi Mi A2 is arguably the phone with best camera at this price point. In this segment, most phones often struggle to click detailed pictures with spot-on colours and good dynamic range, but that definitely isn’t the case with the Mi A2. Both the cameras back and selfie camera of the Mi A2 are really good.advertisementIn our Xiaomi Mi A2 review we mentioned:”While the Mi A2’s main USP is arguably its Android One software, that isn’t its most killer feature. Not only does the Mi A2 offer a complete package with respect to paper specs, it’s the closest that you can get as far as realizing them in actual usage is concerned. In fact, it’s safe to say that the Mi A2 offers the best dual camera implementation on a mid-level budget phone right now.”The Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with two cameras on the back. Of these, one uses a 12-megapixel sensor (Sony IMX 486 sensor) and another a 20-megapixel sensor (Sony IMX 376 sensor). Both the sensors have an f/1.75 aperture lens. On the front, the Mi A2 sports a 20-megapixel camera with LED flash. At the same time, the Mi A2 has a lot more to it than the killer cameras. It has stock Android interface, which is always nice to get in a phone. It is durable and feels sturdy in the hands. The best bit is that Xiaomi has finally – although after a long wait – upgraded the Mi A2 to Google latest Android 9 Pie update. It also makes the Mi A2 one of the cheapest phones running on Pie.The Mi A2 is also a great performer. It is powered by a 2.2Ghz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor which is notably one of the most powerful mid-range processors you can get in a phone right now. The Mi A2 is pretty good at handling the day to day tasks with ease and no sign of lags.Talking about the performance in our Xiaomi Mi A2 review we mentioned:”Performance-wise the Mi A2 is still at par with the best in business which isn’t surprising considering the hardware (and stock Android software) that is inside the phone. The Xiaomi Mi A2 is, in fact, one of the most powerful phones that you can buy at its price point.”Notably, Xiaomi has reduced the price of the Mi A2 for the second time in India in the last two months, which more or less hints at the coming of the Mi A3. Rumours about the Mi A3 have already started flooding the internet and we expect that the phone could go official as early as the first half of 2019. But that is still no reason not to pick the Xiaomi Mi A2 if you are looking to get a phone under Rs 15,000.ALSO READ | After Mi A2, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro now gets massive price cut in IndiaALSO READ | Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 with waterdrop notch, dual rear cameras leaked in official looking posterALSO READ | Xiaomi Mi A2 India price permanently reduced by upto Rs 3,000, new price effective from today

New Delhi: The Congress Saturday alleged mismanagement of the economy by the government and that it has suffered due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “reckless” decisions.Senior Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma said that in the past five years, India’s economy is “gasping” instead of “galloping”. “The government is destroying the credibility of Indian data by embellishing the data, fudging numbers and inflating figures. The fact is that there has been an monumental mismanagement of Indian economy under his watch. It is not galloping economy but a gasping economy, a struggling economy which has also suffered because of the reckless decision of Prime Minister Modi,” he told reporters. Also Read – Uddhav bats for ‘Sena CM’The Congress leader claimed that Modi has to be held accountable for destroying tens of millions of jobs by demonetisation. “He has to answer for a hasty imposition of a flawed GST model which he claimed to be ‘one nation, one tax’, but it is one nation, five taxes which excludes 45 per cent of the revenue, making Indian GST the most burdensome most complex,” he said. Sharma said the four engines of the Indian economy — investment, manufacturing, exports and capital formation — were down. Also Read – Farooq demands unconditional release of all detainees in J&K”How can you keep on claiming that we are the fastest growing (economy) by not creating jobs but by destroying them. There is a huge contradiction. This economy is not creating jobs. Exports have stagnated for five years, manufacturing has gone down, gross fixed capital formation has remained hovering over zero. National investment rate has fallen. These are the facts. The government has gone into heavy borrowing,” he told reporters. Sharma also alleged that the country has played with the credibility of the country’s data. “Fudging of the data is not going to help. NITI Aayog’s job is not meant to embellish numbers and fudge the country’s data. The prime minister and his government has played with the credibility of the country’s data. They have dented the credibility,” he said. “The time has come to punish the PM and his govt for destroying the credibility of Indian data, embellish the data, fudging numbers and inflating figures. The fiscal deficit has reached an alarming point. These are the questions to the prime minister,” he said. He said if the Congress comes to power after the April-May parliamentary election, it would scrap the NITI Aayog and bring back the Planning Commission.

Seoul: North Korea said Thursday that it had test-fired a new type of “tactical guided weapon,” its first such test in nearly half a year, and demanded that Washington remove Secretary of State Mike Pompeo from nuclear negotiations. The test, which didn’t appear to be of a banned mid- or long-range ballistic missile that could scuttle negotiations, allows North Korea to show its people it is pushing ahead with weapons development while also reassuring domestic military officials worried that diplomacy with Washington signals weakness. Also Read – Saudi Crown Prince ‘snubbed’ Pak PM, recalled jet from USSeparately, the North Korean Foreign Ministry accused Pompeo of playing down the significance of comments by leader Kim Jong Un, who said last week that Washington has until the end of the year to offer mutually acceptable terms for an agreement to salvage the high-stakes nuclear diplomacy. Both the demand for Pompeo’s removal from the talks and the weapon test point to North Korea’s displeasure with the deadlocked negotiations. In a statement issued under the name of Kwon Jong Gun, director general of the American Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry, North Korea accused Pompeo of “talking nonsense” and misrepresenting Kim’s comments. Also Read – Record number of 35 candidates in fray for SL Presidential pollsDuring a speech at Texas A&M on Monday, Pompeo said Kim promised to denuclearize during his first summit with President Donald Trump and that U.S. officials were working with the North Koreans to “chart a path forward so we can get there.” “He (Kim) said he wanted it done by the end of the year,” Pompeo said. “I’d love to see that done sooner.” The North Korean statement said Pompeo was “misrepresenting the meaning of our requirement” for the negotiations to be finalized by the year’s end, and referred to his “talented skill of fabricating stories.” It said Pompeo’s continued participation in the negotiations would ensure that the talks become “entangled” and called for a different counterpart who is “more careful and mature in communicating with us.” In a speech at his rubber-stamp parliament last week, Kim said he is open to a third summit with Trump, but only if the United States changes its stance on sanctions enforcement and pressure by the end of the year. Kim observed the unspecified weapon being fired Wednesday by the Academy of Defense Science, the North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency said. Kim was reported to have said “the development of the weapon system serves as an event of very weighty significance in increasing the combat power of the People’s Army.” The Associated Press could not independently verify North Korea’s claim, and it wasn’t immediately clear what had been tested. A major ballistic missile test would jeopardize the diplomatic talks meant to provide the North with concessions in return for disarmament. A South Korean analyst said that details in the North’s media report indicate it could have been a new type of cruise missile. Another possible clue: one of the lower level officials mentioned in the North’s report on the test Pak Jong Chon is known as an artillery official. Some in Seoul worry that the North will turn back to actions seen as provocative by outsiders as a way to force Washington to drop its hard-line negotiating stance and grant the North’s demand for a removal of crushing international sanctions. A string of increasingly powerful weapons tests in 2017 and Trump’s response of “fire and fury” had many fearing war before the North shifted to diplomacy.
London: Police are asking rape and sexual assault victims for access to their digital devices under new guidelines published on Monday that prompted criticism from women’s rights campaigners in Britain. Officers now present victims with consent forms to view messages, photographs, emails and social media accounts, with police warning that prosecutions may not go ahead without the permissions. The change follows a disclosure scandal in the legal system which saw a series of rape and sexual assault cases collapse in recent years after crucial evidence emerged at the last minute. Also Read – Saudi Crown Prince Salman ‘snubbed’ Pak PM Imran, recalled his private jet from US: ReportAssistant commissioner Nick Ephgrave, of the National Police Chiefs’ Council, said the new “informed consent” forms would be used “proportionately and consistently”. He added police were working with victim groups and others to ensure the approach had “the necessary balance”. “We would never want victims to feel that they can’t report crimes because of ‘intrusion’ in their data,” Ephgrave said in a statement. But women’s advocates as well as privacy campaigners have hit out at the consent forms as overly intrusive and argue they could deter people from reporting crimes. Also Read – Iraq military admits ‘excessive force’ used in deadly protests”We seem to be going back to the bad old days when victims of rape are being treated as suspects,” said Harriet Wistrich, director of the Centre for Women’s Justice. The organisation said it was preparing a legal challenge to the policy alongside privacy advocates Big Brother Watch, which has dubbed the measures “digital strip searches”. Prime Minister Theresa May’s spokesman said Monday that the issue was “complex” and police would conduct impact assessments on the forms. “While disclosure is an important component of the criminal justice system… the police have acknowledged that the use of personal data in criminal investigations is a source of anxiety,” he said. “We want victims to have the confidence to come forward.” The forms are part of a wholesale review of disclosure processes within the legal system in England and Wales.
Then-senior guard Aaron Craft attempts a layup during a game against Nebraska March 14 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. OSU won, 71-67. Lantern file photoAs the dust from the NBA Finals has settled, basketball fans have turned their attention to the much anticipated 2014 NBA Draft, and even more so, free agency. For basketball fans in the state of Ohio, two names will be watched closely: LeBron James and, for those in Columbus, Aaron Craft.James, who according to multiple reports will exercise his early termination clause with the Miami Heat, has Cleveland fans buzzing about the thought of seeing “the King” return to his home state and to the team that drafted him in 2003.The Cavaliers have been building, and tearing down at times, their team since James took his talents to South Beach, but with key pieces in place such as Kyrie Irving and Anthony Bennett (just kidding) along with the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday’s draft, Cavs fans can only dream for now.If James was to return to Cleveland, it would be the best move he will have ever made in his career.During his four seasons in Miami, James has been largely the victim of ridicule for how he left the Cavs in the summer of 2010, and rightfully so. As a Cleveland fan on vacation in Florida at the time of “The Decision,” I sat and watched Florida basketball fans celebrate in the lobby of my hotel. I sunk in my chair as all hope of bringing a championship to Cleveland was washed away in the Florida sun. Now, James can fix the broken bridges between he and Cavs fans if he makes his triumphant return home to a city which has not won a major championship since 1964. If in fact he does return, it will be to a better roster than the one he left back in 2010.Which brings me to Aaron Craft. How you may ask? Simple. While discussing sports at a summer job, a co-worker of mine and a fellow Ohio State student brought the following comparison to my attention.Remember James’ old teammate on the 2007 Cavs Finals team, Eric Snow? If you look closely at the similarities between Snow and Craft, you will see where I am going.Snow, a Michigan State grad out of Canton McKinley high school in Canton, Ohio, played four seasons in college, just as Craft did. Both Craft and Snow also put up comparable numbers in their college careers.Craft, who averaged 32.6 minutes per game in his college career also averaged just 8.9 points per game. How does that stack up to Snow? Snow played in just 25.2 minutes per game and averaged 5.9 points per game as a Spartan. While neither Craft nor Snow was a particularly good outside shooter, each shot around 50 percent in their careers. Craft finishing his career with a 45.9 percent career field goal percentage while Snow shot 52.1 percent. However, with every pro there is a con and with every similarity, there is a difference.Craft was clearly the better defender of the two, as he averaged 2.45 steals per game during his time at OSU, while Snow averaged just 1.3 in his time as a Spartan. In terms of passing, Snow was clearly better, however, as he averaged 5.3 assists per game including 7.8 his senior season. Craft never averaged more than five assists per game in a season. So what am I trying to say? Someone needs to take a chance on Craft. If Snow can get drafted (43rd overall) and have a 13-year playing career with three teams – the Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers and the Cavaliers – Craft can as well. The former Buckeye may not be the fastest, strongest or most athletic guy on the floor, but there is no one in this upcoming draft who will give you more effort than Aaron Craft.Enjoy Thursday’s draft and free agency season Ohio basketball fans, it could very well be a memorable one.

Sporting director Michael Zorc is adamant that Jadon Sancho will be at Borussia Dortmund next year, despite the growing interest from rival clubsThe 18-year-old winger’s stunning rise to stardom since completing an £8m transfer from Manchester City to Dortmund in 2017 has earned him plenty of suitors.Sancho is a regular member of the BVB squad leading the Bundesliga this season and his exploits in Germany saw him being handed a call-up to the England national team. But Dortmund, who have an unfortunate history for selling their star players to rivals, have no intention of letting Sancho go right now.“Jadon knew it would be an unusual step to move here but it has been totally the right one. We have been beating ourselves up with the Nassau to Florida route for so long, when there are so many other carriers that run that route,” said Tourism and Aviation Minister Dionisio D’Aguilar during the Budget Communication.D’Aguilar made the statements as he shared that Bahamasair may possibly cut back its domestic service. “There are other routes that we can take, other routes that we can make where we can earn something. We want to explore international routes which we can offer as non-stop direct because those are routes that are less competitive,” he added. According to D’Aguilar, competing with private companies for domestic service routes should not be the Government’s priority especially as the airline is “cash-strapped.” However, he said, private companies should be allowed to flourish. “So, as capacity increases, I think we will slowly exit and use our aircraft and resources to try and establish more international routes to bring people here on more non-stop direct flights,” he said.#MagneticMediaNews#Bahamasair#FNMBudgetCommunication

Advocates hope voters target lawmakers who have pushed for measures that hurt immigrants and replace them with immigrant-friendly policymakers, said Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights in Los Angeles.“Elections have consequences, and the consequences for our community have been dire, and if we do not change the balance of power, we question our ability to remain free in this country,” she said.Protesters still are taking aim at policy changes under Trump, including a country-specific travel ban, the end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, high-profile detention and deportation efforts, and proposals to cut back the overall numbers of people allowed to immigrate permanently.Trump and his supporters say the enforcement and policy changes are needed for national security and economic benefits. Some of the new policies have gotten tangled up in court, and Trump hasn’t secured funding for his coveted border wall with Mexico. After the rallies, immigrant rights groups will join LGBTQ, African-American and women’s organizations this summer to push for the election of new leaders, Salas said, adding that they hope to see more support from Americans who aren’t immigrants.“It is really a fundamental question about what kind of a country we’re going to be,” she said. “For us, the question of immigration is a question about race, and it is also a question about real equality in this country.”Today is the Annual #MayDay March for Immigrant and Workers Rights. As the nation kicks off Alcohol Awareness Month, new research has come to light. It suggests that in addition to the stigma associated with alcoholism, African Americans suffer from a genetic predisposition to greater negative effects of alcohol consumption.Tamika Zapolski, assistant professor of psychology in the School of Science at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), recently examined a paradox in African-American drinking. She found that despite African Americans reporting an initiation to drinking at an older age, lower rates of use, and lower levels of use in nearly all age groups, they still encountered higher levels of problems related to alcohol when compared to whites.“So much research has compared drinking habits and effects between African Americans and European Americans, but no one is truly investigating the reasons,” Zapolski said. “Understanding the reasons for these differences can ultimately improve diagnoses and intervention plans.”Zapolski posits that genetic, historical, and sociocultural factors, including cultural norms with religious beliefs and societal disapproval, make African Americans more likely to abstain from drinking and drink less than other groups. So why do Blacks encounter more negative consequences and greater risks for alcoholism or other alcohol problems?According to Zapolski, and others including Drs. Denise M. Scott and Robert E. Taylor, there exists a number of genetic variants of ADH and ALDH genes in African Americans that account for a higher rate of alcohol metabolism. This means that liquor breaks down quicker, is more potent, and has a greater effect in smaller amounts in their consumption. It also means a reduced likelihood of a family history of alcoholism and a greater likelihood of alcohol related chronic conditions such as cirrhosis.“In plain English, the data is saying that liquor is poison to some of our bodies, just like ingesting arsenic,” said Wendell Carby, a recovering alcoholic with 20 years’ sobriety. “I took my first drink as a freshman in college and was a drunk before the semester ended. It was like kryptonite to my body, but I couldn’t stop drinking even after it started making me ill.”Carby said the addiction was so swift and all-encompassing – creating damage in his nerves, stomach, and liver – that he had little time to brace himself for the financial difficulties and failed relationships that lay ahead. It was only when he began experiencing blackouts that Carby sought help. With growing concern over the prevalence of heavy drinking among African-American youth, Carby believes national campaigns should focus more attention on steering young adults away from alcohol. The rate of binge drinking (drinking five or more drinks on a single occasion for men) among African Americans ages 12 and up was 20.1 percent – compared with the national average of 22.9 percent. Similarly, African Americans aged 12 to 20 in 2013 reported past-month alcohol use at a rate of 17.8 percent, compared with the national average of 22.7 percent.“Our young people need to understand that alcohol is dangerous at any level because some of us are wired to become drunks and have to fight ‘putting the bottle down’ for the rest of our lives. The message should be the same as it was with crack in the ‘90s, ‘Just say no,’” Carby said.Alcohol intoxication can be harmful or risky for a variety of reasons: impaired brain function resulting in poor judgment, reduced reaction time, a loss of balance, coordination, motor skills, or slurred speech, as well as increased risk of certain cancers, stroke, and liver diseases (e.g., cirrhosis).

Since 1995, the annual event benefits The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care, whose mission is “to provide comfort, support and hope to cancer patients and their families.” This year’s show at the TD Garden in Boston on Nov. 18 boasts a mega lineup of stars includes Jimmy Fallon, Craig Ferguson and Jeff Ross, among many others. What has driven you to do this year after year? Both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer at a young age and passed away. Most professional athletes do a number of charitable things throughout their careers, and when cancer struck my family, I decided to start this foundation focused on areas of care that I saw was lacking. Families suffer so much when a loved one is sick. So we have two main parts: The Neely Cancer Fund which supports treatment and research efforts and The Neely House, built in memory of my parents, which gives families a convenient, comfortable place to live and relax and be around others while undergoing treatment. How did Denis Leary get involved?Denis is from Worcester Mass. I first came to Boston in 1986, instead of going to movies I enjoyed going to comedy shows. Through some mutual friends, I met Denis and we became friends. I asked him if he would consider doing some standup for a benefit for our foundation, and he did so much more. Comics Come Home is really his brainchild, he pulled together his friends from the Boston clubs and it has grown so much from there.Related: (Survey) A Quarter of Cancer Patients Use Legal Medical MarijuanaWhether it is running your foundation or your hockey team, how would you describe your decision-making style? It’s really all about having the right conversations with the right people to get the right information. You need to digest the facts and then ultimately not be afraid to make a decision. The toughest thing is understanding that your decisions could impact other people’s lives, but you can’t be afraid to do what you think it’s right. You just have to believe it and move forward. What do you look for in new hires? One of my favorite questions to ask people — especially prospective players — is, “Do you love to win or do you hate to lose?” There’s a big difference. Everybody loves to win. I hate losing. And I love when great teamwork works. Sure, this guy might have scored three goals, but in order to do that, someone had to pass him the puck.Related: 15 Motivational Quotes From Legends in SportsBesides hockey and charity, you are something of a notable film actor. The funny thing was when the Farellys asked me to do it, I didn’t know much about the production. I said sure, as long as it doesn’t interfere with my playing schedule. Then Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels signed on. Wow, this just became a much bigger deal! Every once in a while when I’m walking down the street, I still get people shouting, “Kick his ass, Sea Bass!”What was it like to have the Bruins win the Stanley Cup?For me it was it was such a special moment because I truly love our fan base. It was 39 years between cups and so you have generations of passionate fans. I was excited for our fan base and the city of Boston.Do you plan on talking to the team about the ongoing controversy of players not standing for the National Anthem?Yes, we’ll be addressing that. You know, I believe everybody has a right to express their opinions and their values and beliefs and I don’t necessarily think that a sporting event is a place to do that. Fans are there to watch the event. But I believe in people having the right to express themselves, absolutely.Related: Which Tech Billionaires Donate the Most to Charity? Is it true that players would kick the crap out of each other on the ice, then go grab a beer after the game? Not exactly, but if we’d run into each other, it wasn’t like we held grudges. You know, we had an issue and we took care of it on the ice, over and done.If only everything could be like that simple.I was joking the other day that when I got upset with someone back in the day, I used to get five minutes in the penalty box. That is something I would never attempt. Finally, do you want to go on the record stating that the New York Rangers are guaranteed to win the Stanley Cup this year?[Laughs] I’m not going to do that either.Tickets for Comics Come Home are available now, click here to purchase.
