Vagrant jailed on break-and-enter/larceny charge

first_imgJunior Luther, a vagrant of no fixed place of abode, was on Friday arraigned before Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly on a charge of break-and-enter and larceny.It is alleged that on May 31, 2018, at Pike Street, Kitty, he broke and entered the dwelling place of Suzette Grant, and stole therefrom: one bicycle valued at $8,000, two computer speakers valued at $12,000, nine pairs of footwear valued at $200,000, and other articles valued at $30,000.The court heard that the complainant had secured her dwelling place on the day in question, and had gone to work. At 14:00h, she received a telephone call from her neighbour, informing her that the accused had broken into her home.The neighbour had also alerted the Police, and their quick response resulted in the accused being apprehended as he was leaving with a black garbage bag containing the stolen articles. Hence he was arraigned with the offence.Luther pleaded guilty to the charge, thus Magistrate Daly sentenced him to one year’s imprisonment.last_img
