It’s been a busy week for American Business Media (ABM), the association of business information and media companies. On Tuesday the organization announced the winners of the 59th annual Jesse H. Neal Awards, which recognize the best in business-to-business editorial, and voted in 11 new member organizations.“We are so proud to welcome these organizations to membership,” Clark Pettit, president and CEO of ABM, says in a statement. “These new returning members—ranging from traditional and international media companies to progressive businesses focused on media management software, investment baking services, subscription management and lead gen—support ABM’s initiative to represent the wide range of platforms and models leveraged by business information and media companies.”The new membership includes a variety of organizations—from former companies to new international partners. Two companies—Advantage Business Media, which publishes content on science, design engineering and communications through magazines, websites, newsletter and events; and Athletic Business Media, publisher of magazines, websites, and buyers guides for athletic, fitness and recreation professionals—both rejoined the association as returning members. Canada-based Glacier Media Group was the only new international member to join ABM—Glacier is an information communications company that publishes trade magazines, directories, newsletters, and specialty websites. Mincing no words on the black money issue, finance minister Arun Jaitley articulated the non-compromising position being held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.The following measures were tabled on the floor of the Parliament:Discussions with the Swiss authorities continue and the Narendra Modi government is committed to go after concealment of income and foreign asset ownership in violation of stated principles.A new comprehensive law is to be tabled with proposals that extend to rigorous imprisonment of various durations for income concealment and holding of funds in offshore accounts illegally.The law will also introduce non-compoundable imprisonment and non-settlement clauses, in its bid to persuade people to pay the rightful amount of tax.Even in the case of non-filling of returns over foreign ownership of property and funds, a rigorous imprisonment of 7 years would become the punishment mechanism.The Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) will be amended.Benami ownership risks confistication, especially in real estate.The Finance Bill will also be amended to cover land ownership transactions.

The incident happened in Koramangala on May 12.The women, who hail from Assam, were scared to approach the police and feared how they will be treated. The News Minute states that with support from their friends and All Manipur Nupi Manbi Association (AMaNA).The incident happened on May 12 when the two victims were at a house in Koramangala. The bell rang and thinking that it was the food they ordered, one of them opened the door to find three men brandishing knives. They forcefully entered the apartment and sexually assaulted the two women for the next two hours. The men held the knives at the back of the victims’ neck to keep them in place, reports TNM.”The three men put their knives on our necks and asked us to remove our dress. When we begged them to leave us alone, they threatened to harm us. We were afraid and we did not do what to do. We had no option,” one of the victims told TNM.”I had seen one of these attackers in the neighbourhood before,” she added saying that they left the apartment immediately to their friend’s place. However, the men, who somehow got hold of their phone number threatened them with dire consequences if they did not come back.The three men were living in the same neighbourhood. One is a driver, the second man is a cook and the third assailant works as a supporting actor in the Kannada film industry.”This is a racial attack targetted towards gender and sexual minority people. This also shows the layers of inhuman treatment that people from the trans community from the North East region who live in big cities across the country face,” Santa Khurai, the president of the All Manipur Nupi Manbi Association was quoted as saying by TNM.
